The Western Mustang Band is open to all Western students and its affiliates. You don't have to be in the Faculty of Music to join, our members come from all faculties and years of study.

The Western Mustang Band operates as three separate ensembles throughout the year, open to all Western students and its affiliates, including all faculties and years of study.

Western Mustang Band (Fall Semester)

The Pride of Western is the largest, loudest college marching band in Canada. Entering its 83rd season in 2020, the band performs at on-campus events and represents Western University abroad in parades. 
 


Pep Band

 

Mustang Pep Band (Winter Semester)

Performing at Western hockey and basketball games, our NCAA-style pep band provides an opportunity for students to play in a setting with less time commitment than the Fall marching band. No memorization or marching needed, just spirit!

  • All instruments are welcome in the horn line, no audition is necessary
  • Drum kit, electric guitar, and electric bass are audition-based

Indoor Drumline (Winter Semester)

  • The WMB Drumline is a competitive ensemble in Ontario indoor drumline circuits, with several appearances at Mustang events in the Winter semester. 
  • There are openings on Snare Drum, Quad Toms, Bass Drum, and Cymbals.

Join us at an Orientation

Orientation Date: SEPTEMBER 10TH
Start Time: 11:00 AM
Location: ALUMNI HALL ROOM M2
What to Bring: WATER BOTTLE, ATHLETIC CLOTHES, RUNNING SHOES

Practice Times

Practices are held twice per week, Monday and Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm. For incoming students and new members, please avoid enrolling in classes that conflict with these practice times in order to attend all practices. Please contact us if there are any problems with class conflicts.

Below are the instruments we march and their respective audition packet. If you do not own your own instrument we will provide one for you.

Colour Guard

The Western Mustang Band Colour Guard consists of a variety of equipment, ranging from flags to rifles. Anyone interested in flag spinning is strongly encouraged to join. Everyone is welcome, and prior experience is not required. Contact us at info@westernmustangband.com for appropriate dates for prospective guard members.
