Why did you undertake the development of a new strategic plan?
Reviews of strategic planning are a mechanism commonly used not just at Universities, and are done at regular intervals. We want to have a strategic plan that will enhance the student experience and reduce barriers to participation, and that aligns Western Sports & Recreation programming with the new
Student Experience: Strategic Plan, as well as the new
Western University Strategic Plan: Towards Western at 150.
How did you develop your strategic plan?
This plan draws upon the data collected as well as the broad-based consultation work that took place in 2022-23, as well as the information that was gathered during the development of the Weese Report, the development of the previous Student Experience/Sports & Recreation strategic plan, as well as the 2020 Sport Review.
What is the timeframe of this plan?
The Sports & Recreation team has developed a new six year Strategic Plan: Game Plan, 2023-2028. The end date aligns with the end of Western's Strategic Plan: Towards Western at 150.
What are some key outcomes you are hoping for from this plan?
- Create communities of belonging where all Western Mustangs thrive.
- Position Western University Sports & Recreation as a leader in sport and recreation in Canada.
