Sean McGowan joins the coaching staff of the Western Mustangs badminton team for the 2018-19 season with many years of experience as both a coach and a player.
As a coach, Sean has worked with both the Glencoe Club in Calgary as well as Badminton Alberta where he's coached all ages of players at both the provincial and national level.
Sean has played on the Western badminton team since 2016 winning an OUA silver medal in 2017 and bronze in 2018.
He's also experienced success outside of Western, winning the Alberta u19 singles championships at age of sixteen, earned a bronze medal in men’s singles at the u23 national championships at age 18, and represented Canada on the international stage. Sean has trained under former world number one, Ardy Wiranata, his whole career and alongside some of the world’s elite including Canadian Olympian and former Mustang, Martin Giuffre.
