Guy Schultz enters his 10th year as head coach of the Mustangs cross country team, after taking over in 2014 for long-time coach Bob Vigars. Schultz had coached with the Mustangs in the past under Vigars, in three stints totalling 13 years. Serving as an assistant coach from 1995-1996 as well as 1998-2004, Schultz returned as the associate head coach in 2010 through the end of the 2013-14 season. Guy will also be entering his 22nd year (1995-1997), 1999-2004 & 2011-present) as assistant coach - distance and middle distance, with the track and field team.
Schultz, a Level 3 / Performance Certified NCCP coach, has also served as an assistant coach with the University of Alberta for a year and a half, as well an assistant coach with the Manitoba Bisons for three and a half years. In 2009 he was the distance coach for Manitoba’s Canada Summer Games track and field team, and was the track and field coach for Team Ontario during the 2002 and 2006 North American Indigenous Games.

Schultz attended the University of Alabama on a full scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He also holds a Master of Arts degree from Western, where he also runs the intramural program. While serving as head coach of the cross country program he will also continue as a distance running coach for the Western track and field team.
