Megan Balsdon

Megan Balsdon will serve as head coach of the Western Mustangs curling team beginning in the 2014-15 season. A Toronto, Ont., native, she brings seven years of coaching experience with her as well as playing experience, and will primarily be coaching the women’s team.

Balsdon was a member of the Mustangs curling team for two seasons in 2010 and 2011, and won the team Most Valuable Player award in 2011 for her performance as vice. At the Ontario Scotties Tournament she saw a fourth place finish in 2010 while serving as a skip, and claimed third place in 2014 while playing as lead. In 2001 she was an Ontario Junior Women’s Provincial Champion, and won a bronze medal with Team Ontario at the 2001 Canada Junior Women’s Championships.

Balsdon served as an instructor at Trillium Curling Camp from 2007-13, and again at the August camp in 2014. She was an instructor at the Fussen Curling Camp in Fussen, Germany for two years in 2010 and 2011.

In 2006 Balsdon graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor in Science in Engineering, and graduated from Western in 2012 with a Master of Engineering Science.
