Takahashi, a level 3 NCCP certified coach, served as head coach for Regina Mundi and Catholic Central High School, in London, for a total of 24 years. During those years Takahashi coached numerous team and individual OFSAA Champions. She also coached with the London Legion Track and Field Club where she helped produce a number of National Junior Champions who went on the compete at the World, Pan American and Commonwealth Championships.
As an athlete Takahashi competed for Western University in both Cross Country and Track and Field, winning Female Athlete of the Year in her graduating year. She has since been inducted in the Western Cross Country and Track and Field Hall of Fame, as well as the Western Alumni Hall of Fame.
Takahashi graduated from Western University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education. While serving as an assistant coach of the Cross Country program, she will continue as a distance coach for the Western Track and Field team.
