Tawnya Gonzalez has been part of the Western Ultimate team almost from the beginning when it was just a group of students getting together and playing ultimate. She was a player in 2005 and 2006 and then stepped into the coaching role where she has been ever since.

Outside of Western Ultimate, Gonzalez co captained PPF, the competitive women's ultimate team in Kitchener-Waterloo, from 2008 to 2014, and in 2016. They consistently placed in the Canadian Ultimate Championships each year and won gold in 2014 in Waterloo. In 2014 and 2015, she was part of an elite women's team based in Toronto called Capitals, a team that was successful at qualifying for the USA Ultimate Championships each year of its existence. In 2018, Gonzalez attended the World Masters Ultimate Club Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba with her women's masters team from Toronto called lowercase.

In 2020 before the pandemic, she assisted in creating a new women's masters team in Cambridge called Queen Ps. Finally in 2022 the team hit the fields in Ontario for their augural season!
