Nate McKibbon heads into his seventh year as head coach of the Western University Women’s Basketball team in 2025-26. McKibbon, a long-time club and high school coach from Southern Ontario, joined the Mustangs after 4 seasons as Head Coach at Mount Royal University. He was named the 12th Head Coach of Women’s Basketball at Western University since the 1971-72 season on July 9th, 2019.
In his time at Western, McKibbon and the Mustangs have posted a 83-55 record (68-41 OUA including playoffs). They had the best record in the OUA in 2019-20, have been voted a top 10 team in the country in two of the five seasons played, and have never had a losing record in the OUA.

Prior to becoming a USPORTS head coach, McKibbon spent 18 years as a club and high school coach primarily in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. During that time McKibbon helped prepare 20+ athletes that eventually went on to represent Canada on the international level and 50+ athletes that played post-secondary basketball in Canada and the US. As a head coach his teams won numerous provincial and national championships:

One of the most important ways McKibbon has developed as a coach is to represent his country on the international level whenever called upon. He has been involved with Centres of Performance and Targeted Athlete Strategy for many years before formally joining a national team staff. While on staff he has served as an Assistant Coach, Performance Analyst and Video Coordinator.
