First-half goal decides game, as Mustangs lose to Windsor

Oct. 14: Windsor 1 Western 0

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Western Mustangs women's soccer lost 1-0 to the Windsor Lancers on a cold, windy night at Alumni Field.

In the 31st minute, Windsor's Meresa Brownlie scored the game's only goal, heading in a corner kick from Sara Kox into the net behind Western goaltender Nicole Lee.

Western had a chance to tie the game in extra minutes, but the Windsor's defense pulled together to preserve the win. Despite dominating the play in the game, the Mustangs struggled to score, hitting the Windsor goalkeeper twice on breakaways.

The Mustangs travel to St. Catharines, Ont., on Saturday Oct. 17 to play the Brock Badgers at 1 p.m. and then continue to Hamilton to play the McMaster Marauders Sunday Oct. 18 at 1 p.m.
