Moss leads Western to weekend split with 19 points in win over Ravens

Nov. 15: Western 67 Carleton 63 / Nov. 13: Ottawa 81 Western 77

OTTAWA - Western earned a split of weekend games after defeating the Carleton Ravens 67-63 in women’s basketball at the Ravens’ Nest on Nov. 15.

Rebecca Moss (Waterloo, Ont.) led Western with 19 points.

Western, which scored 25 first-quarter points, only scored eight points in the second quarter, allowing the defensive-minded Ravens to claw back into the game and lead 45-33 at the half.

The Mustangs came back in the second half, refocussed and despite trailing 56-49 going into the fourth quarter, their defensive game frustrated the Ravens, forcing missed shots.

Western took a late lead, 66-63, with 20 seconds left to play, and forced a missed three-pointer to secure the win.
