LONDON, Ont. - Due to a number of injuries and institutional academic restrictions, Royal Military College's women's basketball team has forfeited two of their scheduled games at Western and Windsor Nov. 20 and 21 respectively.
While the Nov. 20 game scheduled for a 6 p.m. tipoff at Alumni Hall is cancelled for the women’s teams, the Western Mustangs men's squad will still host the RMC Paladins on Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. at Alumni Hall.
Both Mustangs teams will also host the Queen's Gaels women's and men's teams Nov. 21 at 1 and 3 p.m. respectively at Alumni Hall.
"It is unfortunate that we are in this position," said Darren Cates, Director of Athletics at RMC. "All members of the women's basketball team and their coaching staff work very hard, and to be in a position where we can't compete in scheduled games is disappointing."
RMC has taken steps to ensure the women's basketball team can continue with the remainder of their OUA schedule. RMC returns to action Nov. 27 versus Brock.
For Western’s women, their record improves to 4-1 for a tie for first place in the OUA West.
