Anderson notches game-high 23 points as Western moves into tie for 2nd in OUA

TORONTO - Despite trailing 43-40 to the Ryerson Rams at the half, the Western Mustangs took a third-quarter lead and held on for a 79-76 win on the road in a see-saw battle.

With the win, the Mustangs dropped the OUA East's top team and move up to second place in the provincial standings.

Amanda Anderson (Chatham, Ont.) led the Mustangs with 23 points and two assists, while Lauren Parkes (London, Ont.) was clutch down the stretch, scoring the winning basket and adding 16 points and eight rebounds.

Western shot 50% from the field - Parkes along was 63% going 5/8.

Katelyn Leddy (London, Ont.) added 12 points and three boards. Lisa Goldring had 22 points to lead Ryerson, while Jenny Hobbs added 18 points and eight rebounds and Angela Tilk chipped in with 16 Rams points along with seven boards.

Western plays at Toronto on Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. - the game will be streamed live at www.ssncanada.ca.

The Mustangs now have a 6-1 record and are in a tie for second place in the OUA West and OUA overall with the Brock Badgers (6-1). Both teams trail 7-0 Windsor.
