Depth aids undefeated Mustangs in win over Toronto

LONDON, Ont. - Depth aided Western's women's tennis team which remained undefeated after a 5-2 win over McMaster on Sept. 19 at the UWO Tennis Centre.

In the singles, Western won four out of six matches. No. 1 seed Paige Robinson (London, Ont.) lost in two sets, while No. 2 Chantal Forristal (Toronto) lost in a three-set tiebreaker, but seeds No. 3 Alex Georgakopoulos (London, Ont.), No. 4 Emma Lecavalier (Mesa, Arizona), No. 5 Carolynna Gabriel (Toronto) and No. 6 Diana Pogorski (Toronto) winning their matches in two sets.

The Mustangs won the doubles point, 2-1, with pairings of Gabriel and Forristal at No. 2, and Meaghan Gutelius (Cambridge, Ont.) and Georgolopolous at No. 3 winning. Robinson and Lecavalier lost their doubles match.

Western (4-0) next faces York on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. at the UWO Tennis Centre and hosts Montreal Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.
