Third Annual Shoot for the Cure Game Raises $3,200 for OneRun

LONDON, Ont. -   The Western Mustangs women’s basketball team raised $3,200 in support of Theresa Carriere’s OneRun campaign through ticket sales of over 700 fans at the third annual Shoot for a Cure game on Jan. 16 at Alumni Hall.

Carriere tossed the ceremonial tip-off for the game and was joined by her family at halftime to talk about her story. It was an emotional start to the second half as the Mustangs came out strong, defeating the Brock Badgers 76-75 in overtime.

Carriere is a breast cancer survivor and started her OneRun campaign in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and its cause. She will be running 100km from London, Ont., to Sarnia, Ont., on June 25 in an effort to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.
The game was a huge success, Carriere said.

“It was one of the best days of my life, Western put on a great show and won over lots of fans,” she said. “It was cool to see OneRun shirts in the crowd and was a great way to get the ball rolling for OneRun.”

Up next on Carriere’s journey is the kick-off event on Jan.25 at Wolseley Barracks. For more information on OneRun, please visit http://onerun.ca.
