Play-In tourney to determine Ontario Championship seeds 7 & 8

LONDON, Ont. - Ottawa (12-10), Windsor (12-10), Brock (9-12), Queen’s (7-12), and Carleton (0-22) will compete in a double elimination tournament Oct 16 and 17 in Toronto to determine seeds 7 & 8 for the Provincial Championship Tournament to be played in Hamilton’s Mohawk Sports Park Oct 22-24.  Western (20-0) will enter the Provincial Championship as the #1 seed, followed by Guelph (12-6), Laurier (14-8), Toronto (13-9), York (11-9), and Waterloo (12-10) based on their regular season finish.  McMaster (3-17) gets the #9 seed as hosts.

The Provincial Championship tournament is an elimination format with a 3 game minimum.  The Mustangs will attempt to make history by becoming the first school to complete an undefeated season.  To do so they will have to win four games starting Saturday, October 23 at 8:45am against the McMaster vs #8 seed winner.  A Western victory would pit them against the winner of the Toronto vs York matchup at 12:30pm also October 23.  Should the Mustangs continue in the winner’s bracket they would play in the Ontario semi-final at 11am Sunday, October 24 and the Championship game at 3pm.  Losers drop down to the loser’s elimination bracket with the survivor going to the Championship game against the successful winner bracket school.  Complete schedules for both tournaments can be found at http://oiwfa.org/.
