Josh Svec signs as free agent with Winnipeg

March 9: Western receiver Josh Svec of Blenheim to attend rookie camp with Blue Bombers

Western Mustangs graduating receiver Josh Svecwill attend rookie camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers according to Chatham Daily News.

The 22-year-old wide receiver from Blenheim, Ont., will go to Winnipeg in late May after signing with the Canadian Football League club as an undrafted free agent.

After spending his first four years of eligibility with the Waterloo Warriors, Svec finished his university career at receiver playing with the Western Mustangs, playing under former Hamilton Tiger-Cats bench-boss and current Western head coach Greg Marshall.

At Waterloo, he played for Waterloo assistant coach Joe Paopao, who coached in Hamilton and with the now-defunct Ottawa Renegades.

Svec had 25 catches for 400 yards and one touchdown with the Mustangs in eight regular-season games.
