Stanescu, Au, Gutelius lead Western to 4-3 win

Sept. 17: Montreal 4 Western 3 / Sept. 18: Western 4 York 3

TORONTO - The Western Mustangs women's tennis team completed a busy weekend splitting their draws against Montreal and York. They were edged out by Montreal 4-3 on Friday Sept. 17. Western then responded to come out and beat York for the first time in three years on Saturday Sept. 18 by a score of 4-3.

Carolynna Gabriel, Michelle Stanescu and Diana Pogorski won their singles matches against Montreal. Meaghan Gutelius and Allison Schmidt were victorious on the doubles side. 

Stanescu and Guteluis continued their great play on Saturday against York winning singles matches. Victoria Au was the other Mustangs to win her singles match. Western won two of their three doubles matches to defeat York on their home court. 

The Mustangs are back in action again this week playing Wed. Sept. 22 against McMaster and then again on Sun. Sept. 26 versus Waterloo. Both draws will be played at the Western Tennis Centre. Wednesday's matches will begin at 3 p.m. and on Sunday play will begin at 10 a.m.
