WATERLOO, Ont. - The Western Mustangs men remained undefeated and the women continue to improve as the midway point of the OUA regular season approaches.
The No. 3 nationally ranked Mustangs men tied Laurier 0-0 on Wednesday night with Andrew Murdoch earning his sixth shutout of the season. Western improves to 6-0-1 on the season to lead the OUA.
The Mustangs women improved to 1-3-2 with their second tie of the season. Toward the end of the match, Western swarmed the Laurier end and had several chances to score. Assistant coach Sarah Regan said in particular, centre backs Fric and Ogle had strong games.
"Our centre backs were great and Jenna Schroeder had an awesome game in centre midfield," Regan said. "We are heading in the right direction."
Western returns to host McMaster on Sept. 25 (women 1 p.m., men 3:15 p.m. and then Guelph on Sunday Sept. 26 (women 1 p.m., men 3:15 p.m.).
