LONDON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs women's soccer team improved to 2-3-2 and fourth place in the OUA West with a 1-0 win over McMaster.
Melanie Oberholzer made eight saves for the shutout and Courtney Stocks scored the game's only goal in the 69th minute to give Western the victory.
Stocks connected on a great bounce off a free-kick delivered to the six-yard box by teammate Chantal Blais.
After a couple of bounces, Stocks hammered in a rebound off a bounce for the game's lone goal.
Oberholzer made two great second-half saves.
Her first was on a Robin Mawson shot seven minutes into the half. She also robbed Samatha McLaren late in the game, preserving the shutout by making a great acrobatic save off a header on a corner kick. McMaster failed to convert on any of their six corners.
The Mustangs host Guelph at 1 (women) and 3:15 p.m. (men) on Sunday afternoon at TD Waterhouse Stadium.
