LONDON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs women's tennis team easily handled the Waterloo Warriors 6-1 on Sept. 26 at the Western Tennis Centre. The Mustangs won all three doubles matches and won 5 of the 6 singles matches.
The pairs teams of Kira Draliuk (Vancouver) and Chantal Forristal (Toronto), Victoria Au and Carolynna Gabriel (Toronto) and Michelle Stanescu (Richmond Hill, Ont.) and Meaghan Gutelius (Cambridge, Ont.) were all victorious, winning their matches 8-3, 8-1 and 8-0 respectively.
Au (6-0, 7-5), Forristal (6-2, 6-2), Gabriel (6-1, 6-0), Stanescu (6-1, 6-2) and Diana Pogorski (3-6, 6-2, 6-0), of Toronto, were all succesful in their singles matches. Draliuk was the lone Mustang to lose dropping her singles match 3-6 and 1-6.
Western will be back in action in Toronto this coming weekend taking on the Toronto Varsity Blues. Games will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2.
