Mustangs to play for third consecutive title this Sunday

Western dodged on and off again rain showers and defeated Laurier 4-1 on Friday and both Queen's 15-0, and York 15-0 on Saturday in Ontario Championship round robin action to remain undefeated (25-0) in 2012 OIWFA play. 

In the Laurier game, Tricia MacKay (Embro) recorded 2 hits including a triple & 4 RBI, Leah Margolis (Vancouver) 2 hits, AJ Anstett (Cargill) 2 runs, & Kara Stirling (London) got the complete game win in the circle.  Against Queen's Michelle Reynolds (Guelph), Jenn Wakefield (Dorchester) & Melanie Smith (Kitchener) all recorded 3 RBI, Kristen Herman (Saskatoon) added 2 RBI, Anstett scored 3 times & MacKay, Wakefield, Herman, & Smith each scoreed twice.  Mel Stevenson (Brampton) tossed a no hitter. 

Against York, MacKay picked up 3 RBI, Stacie Cox (London), Talyor Murray (Whitby) & Stirling added 2 RBI each.  Cox also scored 3 times & pitched a 2 hitter.  

The Mustangs now play Sunday at 1pm (Ontario semi-final) and should they win will play for their third straight Ontario title at 3 pm.  Their opponent will be determined in quarter-final play Sunday at 11am.  All games are at Stronach Park.  Western's semi-final and the Championship game will be streamed live at www.oiwfa.org
