The Mustangs (14-0) swept all 6 games last weekend to remain undefeated in '12. On Friday at home in game 1 vs Waterloo, Stacie Cox (3-0; London) tossed a no-hitter (6K) in the Mustangs' 8-0 run rule victory. An RBI double by Shannon Davidson (Whitby) and an RBI single by Jenn Wakefield (St Thomas) in the first inning and a two-run single by Tricia MacKay (Embro), an RBI single by Taylor Murray (Whitby), and an RBI single by Wakefield during the second inning fueled the Mustang offense early and they cruised the rest of the way. MacKay added three RBIs on two hits for Western.
In game 2, Murray led the 'Stangs offensively with 2 hits (including a triple) and 2 RBI in 2 at bats. AJ Anstett (Cargill) was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. Wakefield, and Kara Stirling (London) each added two hits and 1 RBI. Stirling (3-0) went the distance in the circle (5K).
On Saturday, the Mustangs travelled to McMaster and won both games by the run rule (13-0; 15-0). In Game 1, Western got going early with 5 runs in the first inning and never looked back. Anstett recorded a HR, 2 doubles, and 3 RBI while McKay and Leah Margolis (Vancouver) picked up 2 RBI each. Davidson, Murray, and Tara Cress (Brampton) contributed doubles. Stevenson (3-0) pitched 3 innings for the win with 2 innings of relief from Sarah Maciejewski (Strathroy).
On Sunday, Western took both games from Brock (8-0;9-2). In Game 1, Cox (4-0) pitched a 2 hit shutout, recording 9K and 0 BB. Wakefield was 3 for 3 with a triple and 3 RBI. Murray added a triple, Davidson a double and 2 RBI, and MacKay a double and 1 RBI. Anstett, Cox, and Davidson each scored 2 runs. In Game 2, Davidson went 3 for 3 with a HR and 3 RBI, Cox was 2 for 2 with a double, and 3 RBI, and Murray added a triple and 1 RBI. Stevenson (4-0) was the winning pitcher.
Next action for Western is at home (Stronach Park) on Saturday, September 29 vs Guelph (2 & 4pm) and Sunday, September 30 vs '11 Ontario Finalists University of Toronto (noon & 2pm). This weekend is Homecoming and Sunday is Senior Day.
