Game preview: Mustangs take on Lancers in women's home game action

The Western Mustangs are set to host the Windsor Lancers this weekend for their sixth game of the regular season as they look for their first OUA win after falling to Brock, Waterloo, McMaster, Windsor and Ottawa earlier this year. The young Western team has already faced some of the top teams in Ontario, taking the OUA-leading Waterloo and Windsor squads to four close sets, including a two-point loss in the third and fourth sets to the Lancers.

The Mustangs are guided by fourth-year outside hitter Stephanie Kreuter, who leads the team with 3.61 points per set and sits in the top 20 on the OUA women's volleyball leaderboard. Kreuter posted 12 points and a 33.3% kill percentage in the team's latest contest against Ottawa. Close behind Kreuter in scoring is second-year outside hitter Kenzie Macdonald, averaging 3.00 points per set in the team's five regular season matches this year.

The Mustangs will be looking to continue to improve as they head into this weekend's home game action and pursue their first win of the season.

The Lancers are 4-3 on the season and currently hold the top ranking in the OUA West division standings. The squad will be entering this weekend's games after suffering their third loss of the season at the hands of the Ottawa Gee-Gees in a 3-1 defeat last weekend.

The team is led by fourth-year off-side hitter Kaila Seguin with 96 kills on the season and an average of 3.76 points per set to earn an eighth-place ranking on the OUA leaderboard. First-year off-side hitter Shannon Dean is close behind with 3.67 points per set and just misses the leaderboard top 10 as she currently ranks eleventh.

Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. on Friday at Western's Alumni Hall.
