Box Score TORONTO - The good times keep on rolling for the Western Mustangs women's basketball team as they recorded their fourth straight victory with a 72-62 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday evening in away-game acion. Buoyed by the tremendous efforts of three veteran Mustangs the squad extended their winning streak to 4-1 on the season, maintaining their position atop the OUA standings.
Leading the high-scoring trio of fifth-year players was captain
Jenny Vaughan as she continues to demonstrate why she was last season's
top OUA scorer, recording twenty points in the win to lead Western's scoring.
Establishing themselves as one of league's more physical tandems in the post were veterans
Melissa Rondinelli and
Katelyn Leddy with a combined total of 30 points and 18 rebounds.
Adding to the win was another impressive night from first-year guard
Mackenzie Puklicz. The highly-prized London native scored all 12 of her points off the bench from behind the three-point arc, giving head coach
Brian Cheng another addition to the team's already numerous scoring options.
The Mustangs will look for their fifth consecutive win of the season tomorrow evening when they continue OUA action in Toronto against the Ryerson Rams.
