WINDSOR, Ont. – Despite a game-high 17 kills from
Stephanie Kreuter the Western Mustangs women's volleyball team was edged out by the Windsor Lancers with a 3-1 (13-25, 25-21, 23-25, 26-28) loss on Friday night at the St. Denis Centre.
The win was the third straight victory for the Lancers who now move to 3-2 to take a share of the OUA West division lead, while the Mustangs now hold an 0-4 record.
After dropping the first set 13-25 the Mustangs battled back in the second, taking the set 25-21 thanks in part to two consecutive service aces from
Serena Smith down the stretch. The two teams would then trade points in the next two sets, with neither team holding a significant advantage. Windsor claimed the third set by only two points (23-25) while doing the same in the fourth (26-28).
With only one game this week the Mustangs now have some time off before returning to the court on November 10 in Ottawa to take on the Gee-Gees.
