Western downs Brock 2-1 to remain undefeated

ST. CATHERINES, Ont. - The Western Mustangs women's soccer team remains undefeated as they racked up their fourth victory of the 2013 season defeating the Brock Badgers 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

With today's win the Mustangs hold a 4-0-2 record in the OUA West Division, sitting one point behind Guelph in first, while the Badgers sit at 0-3-4 so far this season.

Badgers forward Lindsay McDonald put Brock on the scoreboard first with a goal at the 15-minute mark. The Mustangs rallied back just seven minutes later when Anna Keller netted a purple and white goal to set the score at 1-1.

The Mustangs offence came out strong in the second half, firing off nine shots on Badgers goaltender Alexa Jackman. The Mustangs hard work paid off when Lauren Winquist racked up another Western goal in the 86th minute of action.

Along with a strong offensive effort, the Mustangs defense played an impressive second half, only allowing two shots against Mustangs goalie Tori Edgar.

The Mustangs will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. when they travel to Hamilton for a matchup against the McMaster Marauders.
