TORONTO - The Mustangs women's soccer team travelled to Toronto on Sunday, September 8 to face the York Lions. The Mustangs have gone undefeated this season, entering today's match with a 3-0-0 record. While unable to come away with a fourth victory at York Stadium, their undefeated season remains intact with a final score of 1-1, good for a draw.
The Mustangs wasted no time against the Lions, with Amanda Boyle scoring the game's first goal at 1:00. Western continued to press with their offense, taking four shots on net in the first half while holding York scoreless with only a single shot on net heading into halftime.
The Lions made timely adjustments in the second half and responded with a goal by Charlene D'Mello minutes into the second half at 48:00. Strong defense on the Lions side kept the Mustangs to two shots on net in the second half. The Lions took a game total of six shots on net with five of those attempts taken in the second half. Goalie Tori Edgar made five saves on the day and did not allow a point for the rest of the game after the Mustangs' early goal. The draw keeps the Mustangs undefeated with a current record of 3-0-1.
The Mustangs take the field again on Sunday, September 15 in Waterloo against the Laurier Golden Hawks. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
