LONDON, Ont. – For the fifth straight season the Western Mustangs softball team has won the Ontario Intercollegiate Women's Fastpitch Assocation Championship, taking the title with a 7-0 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks this afternoon at Stronach Park.

The win comes less than a week after the Mustangs won their fourth consecutive Canadian title at the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association Championship in Calgary, and completes an undefeated season for Western, as the Mustangs finish the year with a 31-0 record.

Western won five games on their way to the title, defeating Toronto, Queen's, and Ottawa in pool play before again dispatching the Varsity Blues in the semi-finals and defeating the Golden Hawks to claim their fifth championship banner. Overall the Mustangs outscored their opponents 35-5, and finish the season with an incredible 320 runs for compared to only 26 against.

Stacie Cox was named the Championship MVP after winning three games while allowing only one run and striking out 16.
Dana Lahti won the tournament's Top Batter award, and both
Shannon Davidson and Cox were named Ontario All-Stars.
