Hoping to shake off last weekend's loss at the hands of the top-ranked Lancers, the Mustangs women's basketball team will take on a pair of inter-division rivals this week in the form of the Laurier Golden Hawks and the Waterloo Warriors.
With the start of the new year
Julia Tennant is now eligible to play for the Mustangs after transferring to the team from Guelph. Last year, the 6'0" guard led the Gryphons in rebounds, averaging 9.1 per game. In her first game as a Mustang, Tennant played 17 minutes, netting four points while also grabbing four rebounds. Her presence around the net should be an asset to the purple and white and their ball control as they prepare to take on their two OUA West rivals.

The Golden Hawks are currently sitting on an eight-game winning streak after starting the season with a loss against Ryerson, and will be looking to hand the Mustangs a loss to continue their streak.
The purple and white will have to watch out for Laurier's Whitney Ellenor on the attack, as the fifth year currently leads the team in scoring with 109 points. Golden Hawk Sam Jacobs leads the team in steals with 16, and with 9 blocks on the season she will definitely be looking to challenge the Mustangs offence.
Western vs. Waterloo - Saturday, January 17 at 1:00 p.m. -Â Watch at OUA.tvThe first of five consecutive home games gets underway at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17 when the Mustangs welcome the Waterloo Warriors to Alumni Hall.
The Warriors have put themselves two points ahead of Western in the OUA West Division standings thanks to back-to-back wins at Algoma on January 9 and 10. The Warriors will be looking to extend their winning streak to three this weekend, with the Mustangs looking to avenge their pre-season loss to the Warriors, where they were defeated 55-62.
The Mustangs will have to fend off Waterloo's Marti Killeen, who currently has 86 points up on the season. With 610 points against this season, the purple and white will have to put up a strong defensive front while also making offensive drives. The Mustangs will look to players such as Mackenzie Pucklicz and
Caroline Wolynski, who both put up double digits against the Lancers, to help lead the offensive drive.
