It's a split week for the Mustangs as they start off their schedule on the road against Laurier on Wednesday night in hopes of continuing their three match winning streak, and will finish off the week back at home with a game against the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday night in Alumni Hall.
The Mustangs currently sit in first place within the OUA West Division with a record of 6-3. The Mustangs stayed strong during their later games in November, and have lost one of the last six matches. The Laurier Golden Hawks sit third in OUA West, holding a record of 4-5, while the Waterloo Warriors sit just below them in fourth place with a record of 3-6.Â

Anthony Spiridis who was given the honour of being named Mustang Male Athlete of the Week for his impressive play and stats in the most recent win against the Windsor Lancers. He scored the game-high 23 points, making it the highest scoring game of his career, while leading the Mustangs to first place. Sharing the spotlight with Spiridis is
Greg Morrow who continues to be a star on the court, averaging a team-high 19.2 points per game, with an average of 6.9 rebounds.
Western at Laurier - Wednesday, January 14 at 8 p.m. – Watch Live on OUA.tvAfter taking a tough loss from McMaster and Guelph last week, the Laurier Golden Hawks return to their home court in the hopes of turning their luck around and breaking their two game losing streak.
Veteran Golden Hawk Will Coulthard leads the team in scoring with 15.4 points per game. Coulthard also has a reputation of bringing motivation to the court and keeping his teammates positive throughout tough matches. The Golden Hawk defence consists of multiple strong players with three players averaging more than four rebounds per game, while Kyrie Coleman leads with an average of 5.9 per game. Meanwhile, rookie Luke Allin is fourth among all CIS players, connecting 52.6% of his three-point attempts.
Look for the the Golden Hawks looking to continue their strong defence, but also rely on their outside shoot with Allin leading the team's long distance attack.Â
Western vs. Waterloo - Saturday, January 17 at 3 p.m. – Watch Live on OUA.tvComing off an earlier losing streak to win two consecutive matches, the Warriors are prepared to turn their season around. Waterloo will first face the Windsor Lancers before travelling to London to play at Alumni Hall on Saturday afternoon.
Myles Charvis currently sits on top of the Warrior scoreboard with an average of 18.6 points per game. Although, Joe Ravenhorst captured attention this week as he was named Male Athlete of the Week for the Warriors after racking in double digits during their back-to-back Algoma games, scoring 15 and 14 points respectively. His steals, turnovers and rebounds helped the Warriors take the win for both games. He also leads the team with an average of 6.3 rebounds so far this season.Â
With ten players recording over 50% accuracy in three-point shots, the Mustangs must keep up their defence along the perimeter to prevent Waterloo from taking the match by continuously sinking their outside shots.Â
