London, Ont. - Western hosted the annual Purple and White Invitational tournament at Thames and Alumni Hall this past weekend. The St. John's College Green Eagles came away with the title in the 32-team tournament, which features 32 of the top women's basketball teams in Ontario.

The Green Eagles defeated the Innisdale Secondary School Knights 44-29 in the final, with Grade-10 player Kaitlyn Overdeem scoring 17 points to lead the team. Her teammate Kendra Van Leeuwen, who is entering Grade 12 and has verbally committed to play for George Washington University of NCAA Division I, was named the tournament
