Western will come off their three-game homestand to kick off their four-game road trip, starting with a pair of games against the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens. The Mustangs will be looking for a bounce-back victory after a loss to the Windsor Lancers last Friday in Alumni Hall.
The purple and white currently hold a 3-2 record to start the season, as they sit tied in third in the OUA West division standings. Their most recent loss moved the Lancers to a perfect 4-0 on the season as they sit atop the OUA West division standings.
In their matchup against Windsor, the Mustangs struggled to slow down shooters from beyond the arc, as they allowed the Lancers to build their lead by the three-point shot. The Mustangs scored well on the inside, but a dominant rebounding performance from Windsor alongside their shooting ability allowed the Lancers to pull away in the fourth quarter and cruise to an 89-62 victory over the purple and white.

The Gee-Gees will come into Friday's morning matchup against the Mustangs with a 2-2 record on the season, following a win in their most-recent game against the Waterloo Warrior by a 22-point margin. Ottawa currently sits in fourth place in the OUA East division, as they will try to overtake the Ryerson Rams for third in the division this Friday.
Ottawa will enter Friday sitting around the middle of the pack in both defence and offence, something Western will be welcome to see following the offensive showcase put on by the Lancers in their previous matchup. Ottawa and Western have extremely similar numbers on the defensive side of the ball; however, the Mustangs have had a much more competitive schedule to begin the season, and will hope that their defence will be able to shut down and Ottawa offence scored just 58 points in their previous win.
The Gee-Gees will be led by Brigitte Lefebvre-Okankwu and Amelie Hachey, who are averaging 12.0 PPG and 11.8 PPG respectively. Lefebvre-Okankwu has done more than just score for Ottawa to start the season, as she leads the team with 8.3 RPG, complimented by the all-around play of Hachey, who has averaged 6.5 RPG to go along with 2.8 SPG in four games.
Western at Carleton – Saturday, November 18 at 6:00 p.m. - Watch live at OUA.tv
Carleton will come into their first meeting of the season against the purple and white with a perfect 4-0 record on the year. In their most-recent win, the Ravens cruised to a 27-point victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks to maintain their undefeated and tie the Queen's Gaels for first place in the OUA East division.
Through their first four games of the regular season, the Ravens have been dominant on both ends of the floor, sitting third in the country in points per game and first in points per game allowed, only giving up an average of 43 PPG. The Mustangs will hope to push the fast break against a Carleton that is the best in the country when given a chance to set up their defence. Carleton has owned the paint to start the season, also ranked first in blocked shots and rebounding margin, not allowing offences second-chance points. On the other side of the ball, the Western defence will be forced to work tirelessly all game, as Carleton has shown their ability to score from anywhere on the court, with a roster full of both streaky shooters and slashers.
The Ravens will be led by veteran forward Heather Lindsay, who is averaging a double-double to start the season, scoring 15.3 PPG and securing 10.8 RPG to lead the team in both categories. Slowing Lindsay down will be a difficult task for the Mustangs, as
Victoria Heine and
Julia Curran will be issued this challenge throughout the majority of the game. Lindsay will be supported by fellow-forward Elizabeth Leblanc, who is averaging 13.5 PPG and 5 RPG to go along 3.3 APG, contributing in all facets to this dominant Ravens team.
