The Mustang women's team are pleased with another successful run at the first home tournament of the season.
This tournament marks the University of Windsor's historic debut as the 11
th women's team in the Jesters University Squash League. Rookie Kali Maclean secured a comfortable 3-0 win at the #2 position for the purple and white. At the #1 seed, Mustang veteran Michaela Khan defeated fellow Windsorite Mackenzie Elliot in straight games.
Western took down Laurier 7-0, only dropping a single game at the #1 spot. Amy Commisso started with an 11-5 win in the first game, before falling to Laurier's Kyla Fishburn in the second. The 2017-2018 OUA All-Star came back strong in the third and fourth games, securing a 3-1 win.
The purple and white came out on top in a contest against the University of Waterloo. This match up proved to be an exciting one, with three out of seven matches going to extra games. Catherine Giachino and Yumna Ramji won their matches in four games at the #1 and #5 seeds, respectively. In the closest match of the season so far, graduate student Heather Dart fell to Waterloo veteran Marisa Seth in a 5 game thriller. Battling back and forth from game to game, Seth pulled through with a 16-14 win in the 5
th game.
To end a successful tournament, the Mustangs dominated Guelph 7-0. A the #5 position, third year Liz Tkachuk treated the home crowd to a nail biting 5 game match, ensuring Western continued their undefeated streak.
