London, ON – The Mustangs Women's Tennis team put up a great fight but ultimately fell to the rival University of Toronto Varsity Blues 4-3 at the OUA Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The Varsity Blues got the better of the Mustangs in two of the three doubles matches to secure the single point, 8-3, 8-6, 3-8.
In singles action it was a tightly fought battle across all six matches with Western's Justine Bryson, Angela Chen & Paige Baynham winning their matches while Winnie Choi, Pia Jhatu & Salma Dessoouki taking their matches for Toronto.
The OUA MVP was given to Toronto's Pia Jhatu, she won her doubles match along with Andrea Kuntjoro and then beat Western's Carley Citron in singles (5-7 (2-7), 4-6).
Toronto's Claudia Poluga & Jhatu were named OUA All-Stars while Bryson and Chen were Western's recipients.
OUA Rookie of the Year awards were given to Choi from Toronto & Bryson from Western.
Varsity Blues Head Coach Nabil Tadros was named Coach of the Year.
