9/21/2022 10:37:00 AM

London, ON - The Mustangs Women's Tennis team battled it out in their home opener against Brock on Saturday where the Mustangs ended up victorious with a 6-1 scoreĀ

Starting with the 3 doubles matches, the Mustangs won 8-1, 8-1, and 8-4.Ā

Without much rest at all, all 6 singles matches went out right away and started their matches with excitement filling the tennis bubble.Ā

New addition, Grace Whitley expressed her excitement over joining the Mustangs. "Being part of a team is a much different experience than most of the matches I played as a junior. The girls and coaches were super supportive and the energy in the bubble was so high that the second I started playing, I truly focused on enjoying myself and putting forth my best effort."Ā

"With 3 starting lineup players graduating last year, we were a bit worried about filling those spots, but our new lineup is very strong. Not only are all the ladies very talented, but they are hardworking and really great people!" said co-head coach Chantal Forristal.

On Sunday the Mustangs took on Waterloo with confidence and excitement and ended the day with a 7-0 win.Ā Ā

Once again, the Mustangs dominated in doubles with 8-0, 8-2, and 8-2 and were going into the singles at 1-0 against the Warriors.Ā

After a great match full of long rallies, Katelyn CurrieĀ reflects on her performance,Ā "My game is usually about being aggressive and being able to return shots with a lot of paces, so playing someone who did not miss and continuously brought me up to the net was a true challenge but definitely improved my game and versatility on the court."Ā Ā

"We are so proud of all our players. The rookies came out swinging and our veterans have only gotten stronger and set a great example. It was some great tennis this weekend and we cannot wait to see more from the team going forward this season!" said co-head coach Maciek Gebczynski about the girls first weekend of matches.
