London, ON – It may have been a bit of a cool morning but the enthusiasm to kick off another cross country season was on full display as Western hosted the annual Vigars & Salter Western International Saturday afternoon at Thames Valley Golf Course.

The Mustangs came away with some hardware as the men's team took a second-place finish, and the women's team finished fourth.
 
The women's side kicked things off at 10am on what proved to be an overcast Saturday. The Women's 8k Run saw the Guelph Gryphons take the top spot, with Laval and McMaster claiming second and third respectively. The Mustangs secured a fourth-place finish.
 
The top individual finisher was Laval's Jade Berube, with Anna Carruthers claiming the top spot for Western in seventh. The individual top ten is as follows:

On the men's side, McMaster took overall top spot in team standings while Western claimed a second-place finish and the Dalhousie Tigers closed out the top three.
 
Max Turek from McMaster claimed the top individual spot, while Western's top finisher was Ben Fox in ninth. The individual top ten is listed below:

The cross-country team will travel to Chicago to compete in the Lincoln Park-Montrose Avenue Beach race on September 30^th.
