Windsor, ON - It was one of the most competitive fields in recent memory according to the coaches but the Mustangs held their own at the 2024 OUA Golf Championship in Windsor this weekend.

Western's performance was highlighted by a 3rd place individual finish for Kira Turner. She shot 9 over par for the two round event with a total of 151. The Women's team finished in 8th place with a total of +63.

"This is Kira's first year on the team and her first OUA Championships and I couldn't be more impressed with her results," said Women's Head Coach Lana McIlwain "Everything was working for her this weekend, great ball striking, dropping her putts and avoided bogeys with smart playing. Kira is definitely going to be a player to watch over the next few years,"

On the men's side, their top individual finisher was William Herbert who finished in a tie for 7th place with a two round total of +3.

"The competition today at the OUA level is absolutely outstanding," said Mustangs Men's Head Coach Jim Waite "We shot a respectable round on Saturday …low of 74, high of 77. Five years ago this would have put us in the top four teams."

The Men's team finished in 11th place with a total of +37.

Turner was recognized as a 1st Team OUA All-Star in the post round awards presentation, Herbert was named a 2nd Team All-Star for his performance.
