Niagara-On-The-Lake, ON – Make it 40 consecutive years as OUA Men's Squash Champions for the Mustangs. Not only did they win the 2024 OUA Championship, they dominated the event.
Western finished the event a perfect 5-0 through pool play and the medal round.
Western started the event with a 7-0 win over Queen's, followed by the same 7-0 score over Guelph on Friday.
Saturday saw the Mustangs finish out pool play with a 7-0 win over McMaster which sent them through to the semi-final as the #1 seed.
In the semi-final, they made quick work of the Toronto Varsity Blues with a 7-0 win again to send them to the finals on Sunday morning.
The gold medal match saw the Mustangs continue to flex their dominant skill by downing the Queen's Gaels 7-0 with very few close sets in the mix.
Western would put up some eye-popping numbers over the weekend including going 35-0 in total with an individual games record of 105 wins and 0 losses and a point total of 1147 wins and 409 losses.
This is the 50th time the Western Mustangs have won the OUA Championship since it was first awarded in 1952.
The Mustangs were well represented in the Major Awards which were announced at the end of the weekend. Salah Eltorgman was named OUA MVP, Daniel Deverill was named OUA Rookie of the Year & Chris Hanebury was named OUA & Coach of the Year. Eltorgman & Dylan Deverill were recognized as OUA All-Stars as well.
