London, ON – The Western Mustangs women's rugby team saw their playoff run come to an end on Saturday afternoon, falling 38-12 to the Brock Badgers in overtime.

"It was a tough game. I can't remember the last OUA playoff match that went to overtime. That's about as close as it comes." said Head Coach Josh Campbell.

The opening half was tightly contested, with both sides trading possession and holding strong defensively. Brock opened the scoring 10 minutes in with a try to take a 7-0 lead. Western answered midway through the half when #11 Katrina Wright finished a well set-up play from #14 Reilly Cattell, putting the Mustangs on the board at 7-5.

Neither team was able to break through again before halftime, as the defensive pressure remained high on both ends.

In the second half, Western found momentum at the 62-minute mark when #15 scored off a pass from #14 Reilly Cattell, and #3 converted to give the Mustangs a 12-7 lead with 20 minutes to play.

Brock equalized late, scoring a try and conversion to tie the game 12-12 and force overtime. The Badgers carried that momentum into the extra period, scoring four tries to close out the match 38-12.

Western's season comes to a close after a strong showing in the OUA playoffs.

"It's never easy to end a season, but this group should be proud. It was a good year, and now it's about taking time to reflect, celebrate, and start building for next season." Coach Campbell said post-game.
