Mustangs battle to 0-0 draw against Toronto

10/2/2025 2:24:00 PM

Toronto, ON - The Mustangs Field Hockey team took to the road this past weekend for a Sunday afternoon matchup against the University of Toronto hosted at York University.

Western is coming off their opening weekend where they split their games, beating McGill 4-0 but losing to York 6-0. They were looking to come out strong and make a statement this weekend.

The team last saw the Blues in a preseason tournament where they lost the game 4-0. Hoping to flip the script, the team came ready to compete for all 60 minutes of the game.

The game was fast paced and intense from the first whistle to the very last. Defensively, the Mustangs were able to shut down the pressing Blues offence, game MVP Tasha Standford played a key role in doing so dominating the middle. Offensively the Mustangs attacked with great speed putting the Blues defence under lots of pressure. The game ended in a 0-0 tie, a much better result than the last time the Mustangs saw the Blues, and a testament to the work the team has been putting in.

NEXT GAME
The Mustangs have a home and away against Waterloo this upcoming weekend, looking to build off of their momentum from the weekend as they take on the Warriors back to back.
