London, ON – The Western Mustangs women's rugby team faced a tough challenge on Saturday afternoon, falling 50-7 to the Guelph Gryphons. 

The Gryphons came out strong, scoring early to build a 27-0 lead by halftime. Guelph continued to control possession through the second half, adding several more tries to extend their advantage. 

Western battled hard throughout the match and broke through in the 56th minute when #19 Kennedy Johnstone crossed the line for the team's lone try of the game. 

"Guelph is a very good team and came with a lot of intensity today. It's back to the drawing board for us, but we've got playoffs next week and a chance to bounce back." Head coach Campbell said.
