Windsor, ON - The Mustangs had a successful outing at the Windsor Team Challenge achieving four additional Auto Q's for U SPORTS, five meet records and two new school records outlined below.
Sam Morrow threw a huge PB of 15.89 to finish in the top 8 and secure fourth place. Following the men's competition, Liv Sands threw 18.58 for second place. In men's shot put, there were 2 top 8 finishes with Seth Edwards throwing a furthest distance of 16.76 for second place and a fifth place finish from Sam Morrow with a best throw of 13.73. In women's shot Liv Sands secured the gold with a throw of 15.90 and Rhinnah Badom threw a new PB of 11.46 to solidify her spot in top 8.
In the men's triple jump, Kenneth West secured 1st place with an AQ and meet record jump of 15.89 meters, while Banujan Kulainthiran finished 2nd with a jump of 14.63 meters. In the women's triple jump, Rofiat Agboola placed 2nd with a season-best jump of 11.94 meters. Kalista Elliott followed in 3rd with a season-best jump of 11.88 meters, and Brianna Rand finished 7th with 11.54 meters. In the men's long jump, Zach Courtney earned 3rd place with a PB and AQ jump of 7.18 meters, while Sanjeevan Kanthavel finished 8th with a jump of 6.83 meters. In the women's long jump, Charlie Ostapowich finished 4th with a jump of 5.59 meters.
Pole Vault results include Phoebe Skipp placing 4th with 3.80m PB! Julia King was 7th with 3.45m. First year vaulters Victor Iuditskii was 6th with 4.20m and Josh Nwuso was 7th with 4.20m PB!

The men's 4x800 team started the meet with a massive AQ performance on Friday. The team, consisting of Tom, Alex, Justin, and Ben, ran a time of 7:34.87 to win the race. This now ranks them first in U sports and 2nd all-time in Western history. On Saturday, Justin Sanders doubled back with a strong performance in the 1k, pulling away from the field to run a flat track PB of 2:25.77 and rank him 8th in U sports. Other notable performances in the 1k include Ben Fox (2:28.03), Liam Smith (PB 2:29.53), Ella Bottomley (2nd place 2:55.69), and Claire Hickey (PB 3:01.13). In the 600m, Favour Okpali had an incredible performance, running 1:28.00 to set a new meet record and break her own school record. This performance now ranks her first in U sports and her converted time would break the Canadian indoor national record! Additionally, Audrey Goddard ran a new personal best in the 600 in 1:40.22.
The distance team continued to build momentum with standout performances in the mile and 3000m. In the mile, Sandra Guga ran a season-best 5:05.72, followed by Maria Linton, who finished in 5:23.14 (season best). The 3000m saw a breakthrough performance from EJ Boston, who ran a 20-second personal best of 9:57.72, breaking the 10-minute barrier for the first time and finishing second. Ashley Maguire (10:00.55, 3rd) and Clara Fava (10:00.89, 4th, PB) were close behind, while Pascale Gendron finished in 10:37.29. In the mile, Marcel Scheele placed second with a season-best 4:13.50. Ethan Cannon (4:25.27, SB), Owen Parkes (4:26.90), and JT Boston (4:37.14) also ran well. In the 3000m, Satveer Gill, Robin Faricier, and Mark Royce fought hard, finishing 2nd, 3rd, and 5th, respectively. Gill ran a personal best of 8:35.57, just ahead of Faricier, who also set a PB in 8:37.82. Royce rounded out the strong team effort with a season-best 8:42.98.
Our hurdlers continue to shine lead by Tyra Boug running a personal best, meet record and school record time of 8.16 in the heats to win the meet with 8.38 in the final. Rachel Watson followed behind in 2nd in 8.54 seconds after running a seasons best of 8.50 in the heats and move to the number six spot in U SPORTS. The men's hurdle crew was lead by Adam Exley this week taking 2nd in a season's best time of 8.12, Deandre Williams was 3rd in 8.23 followed by Ayden Blain, Marcus Grant and Manu Desilets in 8.25, 8.39 and 8.57 respectively. Marcus also posted a personal best time of 8.35 in the heats.
Quinn Cameron won the meet setting a new meet record to becomes the 4th Mustang Heptathlete to Auto Qualify for U SPORTS with a personal best score of 5030 points to move to 6th in the country. Cole Vilon, first year team member placed 4th having the meet of his life achieving personal bests in all 7 events and moving to 12th in the country. In the Pentathlon Riley Hopley had 3 personal bests enroute to a point total of 3158 to finish 3rd.
Next weekend the Mustangs are at three different meets or resting the weekend prior to the OUA Championships. Track athletes and high jumpers will compete at Toronto on Friday. Pole vaulters will be at Guelph on Friday. The horizontal jumpers and throwers at Guelph on Saturday. The top middle distance and distance crew will compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University this Friday and Saturday.
