2026 Season of Celebration: Max von Muehldorfer – Football (Purple Blanket Profile)

London, ON - Western's prestigious Purple Blankets are presented to the student athletes who, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, achieved superior distinction at the Provincial/National level of competition as representatives of Western.

Max von Muehldorfer of the Mustangs Football team is a 2026 recipient of this honour.

Max leaves a legacy of hard work and sportsmanship behind as he leaves Western. He is constantly in the gym working to be bigger, stronger and faster than the competition. This showed as he competed nationally as a powerlifter and was the national champion in his age group. Very few defensive tackles have been awarded with a purple blanket in Western's history, as it is a selfless position that does not usually receive a lot of recognition.

He is a two-time OUA All-Star, a 2025 U SPORTS first team All-Canadian, he was recognized as the Callaghan Defensive Line MVP in 2024 and the Western Football defensive MVP this past season. His accolades speak volumes about his impact in intercollegiate athletics and on Western Football history.

A CFL draftee to his hometown Calgary Stampeders, von Muehldorfer looks to take his game to the next level this summer.

von Muehldorfer shares what it meant to win a purple blanket and also a few key memories of his time as a Mustang.

Congratulations Max on this well deserved honour. The full list of Purple Blanket winners can be found HERE.
