Loyzer, Trung and Calderon great as Western easily wins Eynon Division Championships

Nov. 14-15: Western wins Eynon Division Championships, prepares for tough competition ahead

OTTAWA - The Western Mustangs swim team put on a strong showing to capture the Bob Eynon Senior Division Championship.

The top male swimmer for the Mustangs was Jonathan Calderon (St. Lucia) with three gold medals, while the top female was Melissa Loyzer (Hamilton, Ont.) with an impressive five wins. 

Rookie Jennifer Trung (Maple, Ont.) followed up her impressive performance from the Nov. 13 dual meet against Toronto with another three gold medals.

"It get a lot tougher from here," said head coach Paul Midgley. "While these are good results for this point in the season, we face a bit of a reality check with next week's University Challenge followed by the Canada Cup."

'We'll be in tough in those two meets, but we need to learn to race well at that level if we intend to move on to the next level."
