HAMILTON, Ont. – Forward Andy Wedemire (Sarnia, Ont.) and guard Ryan Barbeau (Belleville, Ont.) were both named as Ontario University Athletics (OUA) all-stars.
Wedemire averaged 19.2 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game for Western to lead the team in both categories. He also had five blocks, 18 steals and 36 assists on teh season, shooting 49.6% from the field and 27.3 % from downtown.
"Andy had an outstanding season and was our offensive leader," said Mustangs men's basketball head coach Brad Campbell. "This year he matured into one of the leagues top low post threat."
Barbeau, a junior, averaged 34.2 minutes per game and was a great playmaker with a team-high 120 assists, averaging 14.8 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game. He also averaged a steal a game, earning a team-best 23 steals on the season. He also led Western with a 48.9 three-point percentage.
"Ryan had a breakthough season. He showed that he has the ability to not only score but he also lead the OUA West in assists," Campbell said. "Next season we look for both Andy and Ryan to lead us again."
