TORONTO - The annual Athletics Ontario Awards Banquet and Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place this past Saturday at the Don Valley Hotel and Suites, where two of Western's Track and Field athletes, Sara Vinelli and Andrew Martin, were awarded as the Junior Women's Combined events and Men's Throw top Athletes of the Year.

Vinelli, a second-year King's student, was named the Junior Women's (19 and under) Combined Events Athlete of the Year for winning the National Junior Heptathlon Championships and representing Canada on the Pan Am Junior Team that competed in Edmonton.

Andrew, a first-year King's student, was also awarded the Junior Men's (19 and under) Throws award for winning gold at OFSAA Shot Put in addition to being the National Junior Shot Put Champion. He also represented Canada on the Pan Am Junior Team.    

Award winners are selected by a committe and are based on the athlete's performance and results provincially, nationally and internationally, as well as records acheived.
