Waterloo, ON - Although they met Waterloo on Warriors turf, the Mustangs had high intensity and team-communication moving into their second game of the season.
With support from Western fans, traveling to Kitchener for the game, the Mustangs scored first against the Warriors with a ball from forward Abi Hart.
Up early against Waterloo, Western used their high energy, momentum, and ball movement, supported by defenders Lauren Kennedy and Maddie Romeril, the co-captain, to secure another early goal.
Scoring in the second quarter, forward Taryn Kennedy acquired a strong lead, and led Western to the finish line, and the first shut-out of the season for goalkeeper Alyssa Evans, against Waterloo.
With the first win of the season under their belts, the Mustangs look to next weekends meeting with McMaster.
