London, ON - The Mustangs Women's Rugby team moved to 2-0 on the 2022 campaign after a dominant 45-7 win over Trent on Friday night.

In front a large and vocal crowd at Alumni Field, The Mustangs continued what they started last weekend when they picked up a 15-0 win over Toronto.

The game started off slow and ramped up during the first half with Western holding a 25-7 lead at the half.

The second half saw the Mustangs continue to pour on the pressure and keep the intensity going to secure the win.

Head Coach Josh Campbell contributes the victory to practiced plans that were executed as expected. "This was a step in the right direction as we take on Queens next weekend and this effort really showed that everyone is working for that purple jersey."

Amy Wynne led the Mustangs with 2 tries and Jamie Giles, Kate Lockington, Lizzie Schori, Mikaela Hough & Selena Hough all added single tries of their own.

"It felt really good to visualize what was done in practice and see it on the home field." said Team Captain Cailyn McKay "The crowd tonight definitely helped motivate us, their presence definitely made a difference".

"I'm not sure if Queens is aware of how far we've come since we last played them three years ago" said McKay "I am definitely feeling positive about our chance the rest of the season."

Western will be on the road to Kingston next Saturday to take on Queen's at 4pm. They are back at home on Oct. 1 when they meet Waterloo.
