London, ON - The Western Mustangs Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct.26 are Matt Yates - Rowing & Maria Linton - Cross Country.

Yates was a key contributor to two gold medal performances for the Mustangs at the 2025 OUA Rowing Championship. He was part of the Heavyweight Men's 8 boat that won gold and also the Heavyweight Men's 4 boat that also topped the podium. The 8's boat was almost 5 seconds ahead of the 2nd place team while the 4's won by 2+ seconds. Yates now has 6 OUA gold medals in his three years at Western.

Maria finished 4th individually in her first OUA Championship in her second year of university. The team won a bronze medal, missing out on the gold medal by 1 point.
