2025 Mustangs Season of Celebration: Wrestling

The Mustangs showcased their prowess on the mat, bringing home an impressive haul of 11 individual medals at the OUA Championship, securing second place overall in both the men's and women's divisions. 
 
The Mustangs demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, earning medals in various weight classes, including five gold medals from Treye Trotman, Gavin Eldridge, Lukas Geske, Kendall Dettloff and Isata Mansary. 
Summers was also recognized as the Male Student-Athlete Community Service Award winner, highlighting his contributions both on and off the mat. 
 
At the U SPORTS Championship, The Mustangs celebrated three individual champions. Treye Trotman completed his third undefeated season dominating his opponents, winning all five matches by technical superiority and outscoring them 52-0. Gavin Eldridge clinched his first U SPORTS championship by pinning his TMU opponent in the final. Mark Summers delivered one of the most thrilling upsets of the tournament. Facing the 2024 U SPORTS champion and home crowd favorite Roger Li from Brock, Mark overcame an 8-0 deficit, and ended up executing an over-under throw to pin his opponent and secure the win.  
 
Western also saw strong performances from other team members. Silver medalists included Kendall Dettloff at 56kg and Isata Mansaray at 72kg. Claiming bronze for the Mustangs were Jonelle Clarke at 62kg and Lukas Geske at 82kg.
